Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Prerequisites

Course Description

The course provides the student with foundational information about the U.S. legal system and dispute resolution, and their impact on business. The major content areas will include general principles of law, the relationship of business and the U.S. Constitution, state and federal legal systems, the relationship between law and ethics, contracts, sales, torts, agency law, intellectual property and business law in the global context.

Students enrolled in an educational program in preparation for obtaining certain occupational licenses are potentially ineligible for such license if the student has been convicted of an offense. For further information, please contact your advisor, the Legal Clinic, or the faculty member in charge of the educational program that you seek to enroll in. The further information you will receive will include notification to you of your right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the licensing authority in order to clarify your particular situation.

Chapter Quizzes - 20%

Discussion Board/CALI - 15%

Midterm - 30%

Mindtap - 30%

Syllabus Quiz – 5%

Quizzes:

•           There will be Chapter Quizzes given.

•           Each Quiz will be up to 10 Multiple Choice Questions from the corresponding Chapter.

•           You only have one attempt at each Quiz.

•           You must complete the Quiz once you open it. You cannot start a Quiz, exit out and come back. Once you exit the Quiz, your grade will be submitted as is. THUS, PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AND DO NOT SUBMIT BEFORE YOU ARE FINISHED. 

•           The quizzes are due generally due Sunday night by 11:45 p.m., according to the Calendar below unless otherwise specified.

•           There will be NO make-up quizzes given under any circumstances. If you do not complete the quiz by the due date, you will receive a ZERO. 

•           If your computer crashes or you have technical difficulties, email me immediately, and I will decide on a case-by-case basis the appropriate solution. I highly recommend using Firefox as your browser. If you consistently have technical problems, I will insist you take the quizzes at one of AC’s computer labs.

 

•          

Midterm Exam:

•           There will be a Midterm Exam.

•           There will be Multiple Choice or True/False Questions from Chapter 1 through Chapter 18.

•           You will have one attempt at the Midterm Exam.

•           You will have 75 minutes to complete the Midterm Exam once you open it.

•           You must complete the Midterm Exam once you open it. You cannot start the Midterm Exam, exit out and come back. Once you exit the Midterm Exam, your grade will be submitted as is.

 

Mindtap:

You will have to complete various assignments in Mindtap.  I will only assign certain assignments from Mindtap, and these assignments will be graded and will go into the Grade book in Blackboard.  You may work on some of the other assignments in Mindtap, but additional assignments will not go into the Grade book in Blackboard.  You must have the access code in order to access Mindtap.

Discussion Board/CALI

During the semester you will have 2 Discussion Boards and 1 CALI assignments.
