Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. All assignments must be done on Blackboard. Computer with internet access is necessary. Assignments may be done in the ACcess Lab on campus if student does not have access at home. The Midterm exam and Final exam will be taken in the West Campus Success Center.
Quizzes and assignments may be taken as many times as desired. However, the first submission is due by the due date posted.
In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .
If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".
All assignments in this course are done online. It is recommended that you do not attempt assignments on your phone. If you are needing to use a computer, the Success Center on the West Campus is located in building B, room 112. It will be open Monday - Thursday 8AM to 5PM. GRADING RUBRIC FOR FALL 2018 INTRODUCTION TO BODY SYSTEMS
10% VIDEO VIEWING (18 short videos to watch) (some of the videos toward the end of the course may have quizzes built into them.)
15% JOURNALS (a writing assignment for each unit about the fun facts.)
15% ASSIGNMENTS (1 to 4 with each unit--crossword puzzles, labeling diagrams, word searches, etc,)
20% QUIZZES (10 quizzes -- one for each unit)
20% MIDTERM EXAM
20% FINAL EXAM
Since all the quizzes are done in Blackboard, there will be no attendance expectations or attendance grade.
However, doing everything expected in each unit will take AT LEAST 2-3 hours a week. You should log in at least twice a week. You must log into the course by the second day of class to be counted as attending class.

CHAIN OF COMMAND/GRIEVANCE PROCESS
Following the Chain of Command is required of any healthcare worker, and will be practiced in Amarillo College courses. Should a problem arise during a class period, please follow this order; do not move to the next level unless you are unable to receive satisfactory results from your private discussion.
ACconnect and Blackboard
This course requires that the student be able to complete some components (assignments, journals, quizzes and tests) in ACconnect/Blackboard. Computer access and time spent on assignments are essential for your successful completion of each course. Mandatory support hours outside of class time will be assigned according to #1 Pre-TABE scores, #2 personal computer with internet access, and #3 individual scores on each weekly reading check quizzes. There are computer labs available to you on the West Campus in Building D, and at the Lynn Library on the Washington Street Campus. Computer time is also available at the public libraries in one hour increments. In addition, students may use the computer and internet for coursework in the West Campus ACcess Learning Center in WCB112.
STUDENT SUPPORT
Supplemental study materials and assistance are available for all students, as well as support for some personal needs. Again, extra mandatory time spent in the Access Lab will be assigned based on instructor recommendation and individual need. Times will vary from a one time 90 minutes session up to 5 hours a week/1 hour daily.
This extra time is to help ensure student success in this fast paced-course. The West Campus ACcess Learning Center is located in WCB112. The ACcess Learning Center will be announced at the beginning of class.

STATE CERTIFICATION TESTING INFORMATION
The first day of class you will receive a Candidate Handbook from Pearsonvue. It contains up-to-date information about State Testing as well as the 22 testable skills. An on-line version of this handbook is available @ http://www.pearsonvue.com/tx/nurseaides/. Also available at that site is a Spanish version of the Candidate Handbook.
State Testing can be scheduled as soon as the course is successfully completed. Amarillo College is a host campus for these exams. The registration process is on-line and requires several steps. Assistance with this process will be provided during class. The fee for testing is $85.50 and is due at the time of registration.
