Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

ENGL-1302-019 Composition II
Prerequisite: ENGL 1301
Intensive study of and practice in the strategies and techniques for developing research-based expository and persuasive texts. Emphasis on effective and ethical rhetorical inquiry, including primary and secondary research methods; critical reading of verbal, visual and multimedia texts; systematic evaluation, synthesis and documentation of information sources; and critical thinking about evidence and conclusions.

Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. Students are responsible for getting any material from any missed class. Hybrid courses demand an equal amount of work to be completed independently via Blackboard presentation.
If during the semester you consider dropping, please check with me first for an alternate plan that protects your investment in the course and gives you an opportunity to complete it. Remember that the deadline for drops for this 8 week semester is Dec.5th.
Academic decorum: You are adults attending a school of higher learning. The classroom is not the place for taking care of personal matters. It is the place to learn. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This includes such behaviors as talking on cell phones, texting, leaving class, participating in disruptive chatting, habitual tardiness, etc.
Week One Assignment: Introductory Work--to course and literature

--Study Major Essay Assignment One (Content--Essay Assignments). On Tuesday, submit sample essay answers to questions in Drop Box. On Wednesday, submit a tentative introductory paragraph to Drop Box. Weeks Six and Seven: Major Essay Two
--Watch Youtube "5. Works Cited Entries" (Research). --Study "6.Works Cited Helps" (Research). Then, complete assignment in Drop Box.
--Take a couple of minutes and google Purdue OWL University sample works cited page. Take time to note that works cited entries directly reflect in-text citations. That is the purpose: in-text citations take the reader directly to the source!
--Study Major Essay Assignment Two. On Tuesday, submit a well-developed paragraph explaining the differences in sample essay one and sample essay two to Drop Box. (This is intended to help you think through how you will approach your second essay differently from your first as you begin revision work per the musts of essay two.) By Thursday, submit your thesis sentence from your first essay and your revised thesis for your second essay to Drop Box.
--Arrange for tutoring and send me an email notifying me how and when you will work with tutors (Writer’s Corner face-to-face, Writer’s Corner Online Tutoring, or Buckthal Tutoring Center ).
