Online Homework: Daily homework will be completed online using the MyMathLab website. Assignment deadlines are indicated in MyMathLab and on the course schedule provided in class. Answers to homework problems will be automatically graded on MyMathLab. Students are required to document their work by writing each problem down, showing complete work on notebook paper, and boxing answers. This homework log will be kept in the notebook and checked periodically by the instructor. No late homework will be accepted.
Lab Worksheets: Students will be required to print lab assignments from Blackboard on a weekly basis as their own expense. Students will be allowed to work in groups during lab time and will be required to present and discuss solutions to various problems. Attendance in lab is mandatory, and students are not allowed to leave until all problems have been presented on the board. A student who misses lab will not be allowed to turn in their lab for that day unless they make up lab time in the Outreach Center before the lab due date. This will be documented by scanning in and out of the ORC with the student ID. Written assignments will be submitted in class and graded by the instructor. Lab deadlines are indicated on the course schedule provided in class. No late labs will be accepted.
Notebook: Students will be required to keep an organized notebook in class. The notebook must include the syllabus, the semester schedule, notes, MyMathLab homework log, labs, and formula sheets. The instructor will check student notebooks during major exams. Each notebook check will count as one lab grade.
Exams: Three (3) major exams and a mandatory comprehensive final exam will be given during the semester. No late exams are permitted. If the final exam grade is higher than the lowest major exam grade, the final exam will replace that lowest grade and also count for the final exam grade. Exams cannot be taken late, unless you know ahead of time that you will be missing an exam due to extenuating, verifiable circumstances. You may then schedule to take your exam early, at the instructor's discretion.
Daily attendance is required in both lecture and lab. Attendance will be taken in lecture, and students are not allowed to leave lab until their work is finished and all problems have been presented on the board. Students who do not attend lab will not be permitted to turn in lab for that day unless they make up lab time in the Outreach Center before the lab due date.
Note that the last day to drop is Wednesday, April 17. You must notify me by noon on Wednesday, 4/17/19, in order to process your drop in time. Students who stop attending class and do not officially drop will receive a grade of F if their average falls below a 60.
Tentative Schedule: This schedule is subject to change by the instructor at any time.
Blackboard: Students will be required to login to Blackboard via the AC Connect portal on a regular basis to check e-mail, course announcements, and grades. To get into Blackboard, go to www.actx.edu and click the AC Connect portal. Log in to Blackboard. Once you have logged in, you should see our class listed on your home page.
