Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Course Description

Diagnosis and repair of manual/electronic climate control systems; includes the refrigeration cycle and EPA guidelines for refrigerant handling. May be taught manufacturer specific.

General: A/C System Diagnosis and Repair

  • Identify and interpret heating and air conditioning problems; determine needed action. (P-1)

  • Research vehicle service information including refrigerant/oil type, vehicle service history, service precautions, and technical service bulletins. (P-1)

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".

Expected Student Behavior

When on campus - Students are to wear masks when on Campus. Students must come to class wearing the appropriate AC uniform shirts

Students MUST wear safety glasses in the shop/lab 

Electronic devices are to be on silent while in class

Students will be respectful of other classes being conducted in the building, respectful of their peers, and of the other instructors

Students are expected to dress appropriately (shirts tucked in, no profanity on clothing, no holes in clothing) and clothing must appear to be laundered regularly

Students are expected to demonstrate proper hygiene while enrolled and on campus

90 - 100 = A

80- 89 = B

70 - 79 = C

60 - 69 = D

0 - 59 = F

 

Attendance = 25% (one hour = 20 points. 5 hours = 100 points)

Lab Task Sheets = 25%

Chapter Assignments = 25%

Final Exam = 25%

Attendance

Attendance will be taken and you will receive a grade reflecting your time in class and in the lab. 

Attendance will be calculated in quarters of an hour. AUMT 1345 is a 5 hour long class which equals 20 points for each hour or 5 points for every 15 min you are here. There will be a station for you to clock in and out. Clock in as soon as you enter the room and clock out once you leave for the day. The time clock will be your responsibility. If you forget to clock out, I will give you a ZERO for the day since I will not know when you have left. When you do leave for the day, please let me know in case there is an emergency on campus and I have to have a head count. 

The first 30 minutes of class will be designated for self-study

Each tasksheet MUST include the vehicle you are using to complete the assignment. If a question does not apply to the vehicle, don't leave it blank. Put "N/A" for that question. I have to know what vehicle the information you looked up applies to in order to verify. Also some tasksheets involve researching information only. You can use a vehicle in the lab or your personal vehicle to research the information on, but WRITE THE VEHICLE INFORMATION DOWN.
