Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Course Description

A study of the principles of layout of electrical and electronic drawings stressing modern representation used for block diagrams, schematic diagrams, logic diagrams, wiring/assembly drawings, printed circuit board layouts, motor control diagrams, power distribution diagrams and electrical one-line diagrams.

Drafting for Electronics, Third Edition by Louis Gary Lamit and Sandra J. Lloyd

Textbook is recommended but not required for the Fall 2024 semester.

Supplies

USB Compatible Flash Drive (8G Min)- For storing your work.
DO NOT SAVE ANYTHING ON THE COLLEGE COMPUTERS!
 
Note Taking Supplies (Pencil/Pen and Paper)                                        
Class lectures are based off the provided Power Points presented at the beginning of each class.
You may be required to take additional notes as well.
 
Access to Microsoft Word (or equivalent) and AutoCAD 2024.
Amarillo College provides access to this software.

Student Performance

Students will be given assignments that include both written and drawing tasks, exams, and a course project. Students will also be graded on attendance.

Written assignments are to be typed and printed using Microsoft Word.

Drawing Assignments are to be created using the Standard, LT, or Student version of AutoCAD 2024.

Exams will be issued through Blackboard or on paper. All exams are taken on campus. No makeup exams are provided.

Unless otherwise stated, all assignments are due one week from the date assigned.

Late assignments will be lowered ten points. No assignments will be accepted after two weeks from the date assigned.

 

Withdrawing From The Course

It is the responsibility of the student to initiate drop or withdrawal procedures. See your instructor first if you wish to initiate these procedures. Students who stop attending class but do not officially drop or withdraw from this course will receive a letter grade at the end of the semester.

Withdraw Deadline for this course is December 4, 2024.

Census Date: Any student who has not attended the course by the census date will be administratively withdrawn from the course.

The Census Date for this course is October 28, 2024.

Expected Student Behavior

Students are expected to maintain a high standard of individual honor in their scholastic work. Students who are guilty of cheating, plagiarism, copying, or dishonesty may receive a 0 on an assignment; may be excluded from class with a grade of F; or, in flagrant cases, may be suspended from the College.

Grading Criteria

Attendance Grade          10% of course grade

Written Assignments       10% of course grade.

Drawing Assignments      20% of course grade.

Exams                              30% of course grade.

Course Project                 30% of course grade.

Attendance

This is an on-campus course. All Students are expected to physically attend.
All students are expected to attend every lecture given by the instructor.
 
Students that are not present for each lecture will be marked as absent.                     
An Attendance Grade (100% / 16 Classes) will make up 10% of the final course grade.
 
If class is canceled for any reason, all students will be marked as present.
 
Please notify me if you are expected to be absent two days or more.
 
Lab time can be used at the college or at home. You must have access to Microsoft Word and Inventor to be able to work on assignments from home.                         
All Exams are taken on campus. No makeup exams are provided.
