Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Course Description

Describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in small networks and introduces wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts; provides an in-depth understanding of how routers  and switches operate and are implemented in the LAN environment.

This book and corresponding labs are freely available online in your Cisco Networking Academy course at Netacad.com. You will receive login information from your instructor on the first day of class.

Cisco Packet Tracer 8.2 (64-bit)

• Purpose: Required for CCNA 7.0.2 activities and PTSA (minimum version).
• Operating Systems: Choose one:
  • Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
  • Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 LTS (64-bit)
  • macOS 10.14 or newer
• Hardware:
  • CPU: amd64 (x86-64)
  • RAM: 4 GB free
  • Disk Space: 1.4 GB free

Student Performance

CCNA 7: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials (SRWE) covers the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in small networks and introduces wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. Students learn how to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches for advanced functionality using security best practices and resolve common issues with protocols in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Configure VLANs and Inter-VLAN routing applying security best practices.
• Troubleshoot inter-VLAN routing on Layer 3 devices.
• Configure redundancy on a switched network using STP and EtherChannel.
• Troubleshoot EtherChannel on switched networks.
• Explain how to support available and reliable networks using dynamic addressing and first-hop redundancy protocols.
• Configure dynamic address allocation in IPv6 networks.
• Configure WLANs using a WLC and L2 security best practices.
• Configure switch security to mitigate LAN attacks.
• Configure IPv4 and IPv6 static routing on routers.

The 70-hour, instructor-led course is the 2nd of 3 courses in the Cisco CCNA 7 curriculum. The course includes activities using Packet Tracer, hands-on lab work, and a wide array of assessment types and tools

• Standard: Maintain a high level of honesty in all schoolwork.
• Violations: Cheating, plagiarism, copying, or dishonesty may result in:
  • Zero on the assignment
  • Grade of F and removal from class
  • In severe cases, suspension from Amarillo College

Sharing Work

• Rule: Giving files or letting others use your work violates the Student Code of Conduct.
• Consequence: Risk disciplinary action per College policy. (This includes penalties or hearings.)

Verification

• Faculty Right: CIS instructors may ask you to redo any part of a test or assignment to confirm your work.

Computer Systems

• Rule: Actions like hacking or cracking that harm Amarillo College systems are prohibited.
• Consequence: May lead to a grade of F and further disciplinary action.

Make-Up Policies

• Eligibility: Make-ups for exams or labs depend on individual circumstances, allowed at the instructors discretion.
• Scheduling: Instructor sets the time and place for make-up tests.
• Missed Work: If absent, you can make up gradable coursework (except the final exam) by contacting the instructor ASAP upon return. (Arrange with instructor after missing class.)
• Final Exam: No make-ups unless taken early with prior approval.

• Warning: Failure to do so may result in an administrative drop from the course. (This means you could be removed from the class.)

Attendance Tracking
