Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

Definitions (ACEN, 2023):
“The use of assessment methods to gauge students’ comprehension and learning by comparing it against a standard or benchmark while learning is in progress (Formative) or at the completion of a learning experience, such as a unit or course (Summative).
Formative evaluation methods provide ongoing feedback to assist the student and faculty to identify the student’s strengths/weaknesses regarding learning achievement and target areas that need work.
Summative evaluation usually involves students receiving a grade that indicates their level of performance on an assignment, examination, and/or course that reflects learning achievement.”
GRADING CRITERIA/GRADE SCALE:
Final Grade:
Students must complete 100% of all required clinical hours: clinical orientation, assignments, clinical hours and simulation. Total Clinical Hours: 144.
Students are responsible for reporting to the assigned clinical area on time and being dressed according to the “Student Dress Code Policy for Clinical”.
Clinical experience is an essential component of the program. Absenteeism jeopardizes the opportunity for successful completion of the course. Clinical absences must be reported to the instructor before pre-clinical conference. Failure to notify the instructor before the pre-clinical conference may result in failure of the course. Students who arrive late to the clinical area may be asked to leave if the report has been missed or the arrival time is incongruent with providing appropriate patient care.
Clinical absences will be made up at the discretion of the instructor. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the respective instructor regarding make-up assignments. Failure to do so will fail to meet the course outcomes. After an illness, a physician's statement may be required.
Students that are not in compliance with the dress code and required supplies to the clinical site are sent home for the day. Students must make-up the absence, and will also receive a clinical warning.
