Amarillo College Tutoring for Success Policy:

Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.

Administrative Drop Policy

Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016

Student Withdrawal Procedures

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component.

We encourage active learning through note-taking and classroom participation, helping you maximize your educational experience. To maintain a professional and respectful learning environment, we kindly request that students remove hats indoors, with the exception of safety equipment specific to certain technical courses (such as welding protective headgear during welding instruction).

Students are responsible for getting notes from other students when absent.Lab activities will continue on schedule.Individuals will not receive credit for making up activities and there will not be special lab sessions.Some work can be caught up during regular lab times.Missing lab activities may prevent individuals from performing advanced lab exercises for safety and expense reasons. 

 

Approved Resources for Assessments: 

Use the provided basic calculator for exams, and keep only the exam window open on your computer. Be sure to focus fully on your own work to demonstrate your understanding. 

Learning Environment Guidelines: 

Protect everyone's privacy and learning experience by refraining from taking photos or recordings during lectures and labs. Maintain the exam environment's integrity by keeping electronic devices stored away during tests 

Academic Integrity 

We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty. Open discussions about academic integrity are encouraged to foster a culture of honesty. 

You are required to take the final exam to pass this course.  

The student's numerical course grade will be converted to a course letter grade according to the following scale: 

A = 90 to 100, B = 80 to 89, C = 70 to 79, D = 60 to 69, F = Below 60 

Your instructor does not round up automatically, any rounding is dependent upon your professionalism grade and attendance (including arriving on time) and lab performance. 

Attendance

Attendance: Unless it is an emergency, it is highly recommended that you do not miss class. Recovery of missed information will be the responsibility of the student. Class begins at the scheduled time. If you are not in your seat in class or at the designated location during laboratory exercises, you will be counted as tardy. The student will be required to show an acceptable understanding of the topic(s) covered during their absence. Check the syllabus for your instructor’s policy regarding attendance.
