Tutoring for Success applies to any student whose overall performance in the course falls below 75%. The instructor will create the task in the Student Engagement Portal (Watermark) to direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty- or SI-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. The tutoring service assigned, the due date for when the tutoring must be completed, and the amount of tutoring required are at the discretion of the instructor. Additionally, the task will alert the student’s success team. Students who do not fulfill the assigned tutoring task may be subject to program- and course-specific penalties that could result in a grade reduction and/or in not being allowed to progress in the course until the tutoring requirement has been satisfied.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) For more information on Drop and Withdrawal Policies, please visit the Registrar's Office Web site.

Note taking materials for class, and a journal
Your success matters. Grades reflect consistent effort, engagement, and mastery across the 8-week term, not last-minute surges.
Stay current with readings, assignments, and discussions.
Final Week Responsiveness: During the last week, response times may be limited due to grading volume. Plan ahead and bring grade questions before the final week.
I don't round up final grades by request. Your grade should reflect demonstrated mastery.
There will not be any solicited extra credit at the end of the course. A few opportunities may be built into the term and will be clearly announced.
Late Assignments are generally not accepted. Reach out to me with the specifics of the assignment at least a week before it is due, if possible. Extensions before due dates may be possible on a case-by-case basis.
We will use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to support learning, not replace your original thinking.
Integrity Reminder: AI use must be ethical and transparent. Your submitted work should reflect your understanding and voice.
In order to receive your AC Connect Email, you must log in through AC Connect at https://acconnect.actx.edu .
If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".
I am here to support your success. You will spend time each week on:
You have all the resources to help you navigate this course -

Tone Matters -
Your tone is a powerful tool. Keep our space respectful and safe. Grammarly is available as a tone-check companion. In person, be mindful: tone sets the mood of every interaction.
When you share links, please ensure they're accessible by the due date so that your classmates and I can review your work when applicable.
Your textbook is online only (ebook). Please refer to the information in the syllabus for instructions on purchasing and accessing the textbook.
Speeches need support - these are your sources. Cite verbally: author, publication date, and where you found it. *Note - I recommend APA citation style, but you might be more familiar with MLA. AC's Lynn Library has resources if you need help.
Speech dates are set, so please be prepared to present on the assigned date. Please notify me at least an hour before class if anything arises. A doctor's note is required for illness if you miss a speech. The speaking order is randomly selected.
