Statement on State-Authorized Courses at Amarillo College

For-credit academic and workforce education courses offered at Amarillo College are limited to the course options available in the statewide inventory for two-year public institutions. Courses in the state-authorized lower-division Academic Course Guide Manual and Workforce Education Course Manual have specific descriptions that prescribe course content and may include specific student learning outcomes. Grading Criteria

Online Homework (10% of your total grade): All homework will be completed online using the MyMathLab website. After using the LTI link in our course to register, click on the "Assignments" button found on the homepage to see all assignments for this course. Online homework must be submitted by 11:59pm CST on the due date. Help buttons are available for each problem in MyMathLab, and you may rework problems multiple times until you get the correct answer. Assignment deadlines will be stated on the course calendar and indicated in MyMathLab with each homework assignment. Although this homework will be submitted online, I strongly recommend that you keep an organized log of written work to accompany each homework assignment to better learn the process of solving problems. Two online homework assignments will be dropped when calculating your overall homework average.

Spotlight Problems (10% of your total grade): You will have a written assignment covering the concepts in each chapter. Spotlight problems are to be scanned and submitted by 11:59pm on the due date. Due dates are posted on the class schedule in Blackboard. No late work will be accepted. No spotlight problems will be dropped or accepted late. All work must be shown or no credit will be given.

Online Tests (40% of your total grade): Four online tests will be completed in MyMathLab by the due date(s) indicated in MyMathLab. For the test to be available, you must make at least 70% on the chapter review prior to attempting the exam. If a 70% is not achieved, you must rework problems. Online tests will be timed and you must upload your written exam work into Blackboard.

Midterm & Final Exam (40%; each worth 20% of the final grade): The midterm and final exams are proctored exams and must be completed in person at an approved testing location (NOT ONLINE). These exams can taken at the Washington Street Campus or be proctored at an approved testing site. Hereford Campus and Moore County Campus have been used by students in the past. You will be required to provide a photo ID to take an exam. If you need to take your midterm and final exam somewhere other than the Washington Street Campus math testing center, you must state where you plan to test on your testing location form in Blackboard. If you fail to complete the form by the deadline, you will be required to test at the Washington Street Campus.

Midterm Exam: Available September 16th - September 21st. Midterm exam review is available in Blackboard and must be completed prior to taking the midterm exam.

Final Exam:  Available October 8th - October 14th. Final exam review is available in Blackboard and must be completed prior to taking the final exam.

Mandatory Tutoring: If your average drops below a 75 after a chapter exam you will be required to complete one hour of tutoring. Tutoring may be completed in the Math Academic Success Center in WARE on the 4th floor or on zoom.

Keep on track:  All work can be started early. You may work ahead of the course calendar. Do not to wait until the last minute to start an assignment so that if you are ill or have technical difficulties you are not put in a bind.

Late Work:  Deadlines are your responsibility. Due dates are posted on the MyMathLab website and in the class in Blackboard (through the AC Connect Portal). If you need an extension for an assignment (up to 2 days maximum), please email for options. No extensions will be granted beyond October 11th. No extensions are available for spotlight problems, the midterm, or the final exam.

Note: your current course average is displayed in Blackboard. The average showing in MyMathLab is not correct.
