The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.

A studio course exploring drawing with continued emphasis on descriptive, expressive and conceptual approaches. Students will further develop the ability to see and interpret a variety of subjects while using diverse materials and techniques. Course work will facilitate a dialogue in which students will employ critical analysis to broaden their understanding of drawing as a discipline.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
1. Describe visual subjects through the use of accurate and sensitive observation.
2. Generate drawings which demonstrate descriptive, expressive, and conceptual approaches with an

4. Utilize varied materials and techniques, including color media, with informed aesthetic and conceptual

Students are required to show professionalism, discipline, attention, respect, participation, and cooperation.
Drawing assignments are required. These are graded on timeliness, excellence of technique, strength of concept and creativity, professionalism, and craftsmanship. Also meeting deadlines and professionalism (ie: behavior) in completed classroom projects.
Grades will be posted as a percentage of 100 (100% is perfect), and as a letter grade

No more than 2 class periods may be missed without approval from the instructor. After two “free” absences, the final class grade will be reduced by 3 grade points for each unexcused absence, and you will be advised by the instructor concerning continuing or withdrawing from the course.
Makeup Policy: Deadlines are usually final. Under special circumstances, students must contact instructor for opportunity to make-up attendance, assignments and tests. Written documentation concerning reason for missing deadline required.
