The Tutoring for Success policy applies to any student whose grade or performance in the course falls below a departmentally determined minimum threshold. In either of those cases, the instructor will direct the student to the appropriate tutoring service, which may be faculty-led, discipline-specific, and/or general. Under this policy, the instructor will follow specific departmental guidelines governing the use, duration, and grade component of the tutoring need.
Students who do not attend class on or prior to the census date will be administratively dropped. Effective Fall, 2016
Students who wish to withdraw from a course must complete all steps indicated on the Academic Withdrawal Request form by the course withdrawal deadline.
NOTE: Students who are attending Texas institutions of higher education, for the first time fall 2007 and later, may not withdraw from more than six courses during their academic career. This withdrawal limitation does not include dual credit or developmental classes (Senate Bill 1231 Rule 4.10.) On Campus Course
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: One hour seminar per week on topics of importance to the musician. Attendance required at specific number of fine arts activities. Class periods are designed to present various topics of interest to the music major by AC Music Faculty and special guests from the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Opera, and other music professionals. Three class periods will be designated for student recitals, and each student is required to perform twice per semester.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE/LEARNING OUTCOMES: The primary objective of this course is to help students fulfill music department requirements for recital and concert attendance. The secondary objective is to strengthen student performance skills. The third objective is for students to gain information about careers in music and related skills necessary. The fourth objective is for students to build a basic portfolio with documentation of their educational progress that can be used and adapted after graduation from AC. After completion of the semester, the student will:
1. Attend a minimum of 10 fine arts concerts outside of class and keep all programs as proof of attendance.
2. Be able to demonstrate appropriate performance etiquette and skills in a recital setting.
3. Be exposed to topics relevant to the music major.
4. Present a student portfolio with documentation of educational progress and career goals.

If you are an active staff or faculty member according to Human Resources, use "Exchange". All other students, use "AC Connect (Google) Email".
1. Attend every class period.
2. Prepare questions for guests and be prepared to ask and answer questions.
3. Attend a minimum of 10 concerts/fine arts events.
4. Perform on two student recitals.
5. Document recital attendance and other materials as assigned.
6. Produce a student portfolio.
This is a pass/fail class. Students must have a minimum of 10 concerts attended to pass. Extra concerts will be added for every class period missed.
CONCERT ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:
You are required by the music department to attend a minimum of 10 fine arts performances. You may count 1 concert for each performing group of which you are a member, with a limit of 4 concerts. In other words, if you are a member of 4 performing groups, you may count 4 concerts towards your fine arts requirement (3 groups - 3 concerts, etc.). At least three of the performances must be related to your major. The other performances are your choice. Upload all programs for proof of attendance. A minimum of 5 attended concerts are due by midterm and the remainder are due on the last class day . A grade of F will be given for failure to attend the minimum ten concerts and failure to provide ten programs. A grade of incomplete will not be offered!!!
You must attend one additional concert for every class period missed.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: Regular attendance is necessary for satisfactory achievement. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the student to attend class. Students are expected to attend every class unless excused by the professor with written documentation. Don't be late for class, especially on guest informance days, and prepare several questions!!!
An extra concert will be required for each class period missed for any reason.
