Online Homework: After each section covered in class, students will complete a corresponding homework assignment on MyMathLab. Help buttons will be available for each problem in MyMathLab, and you may rework problems multiple times until you get the correct answer. Each assignment will be due at the next class meeting at 12:30PM. These due dates are posted on the class schedule in Blackboard and also on the MyMathLab website, and no late homework will be accepted. Though this homework will be submitted online, I strongly recommend that you keep an organized log of written work in your notebook to better learn the process of solving problems.
Lab Worksheets: Students will be required to print lab worksheets from Blackboard on a weekly basis and bring them to class. During lab time, students will discuss and present solutions to various problems. Attendance in lab is mandatory! Written assignments will be due at the next class meeting at 12:30PM. These due dates are also posted on the weekly schedule in Blackboard. No late labs will be accepted!
Exams: Four (4) major exams will be given outside of class in the Math Testing Lab. Exams must be taken during the time frame provided on the schedule, and no late exams will be accepted.
Final Exam: A comprehensive final exam will be given on Monday, May 8, 2023 in class at 12:30PM. If the final exam grade is higher than the lowest major exam grade, the final exam will replace that lowest grade and also count for the final exam grade.
Mandatory Tutoring: If you score below a 70 on any unit exam, you will be required to complete one hour of mandatory tutoring in the Math Adademic Success Center. Tutoring may be completed on campus in or remotely by joining https://zoom.us/j/541139851. Use the Meeting ID: 541 139 851.
Extra Credit: Extra credit will not be given.
Special Topics
Two special topics will be explored throughout the semester which serve to enhance understanding of difficult concepts. The first topic covers the book Flatland by Edwin Abbott. The second topic consists of solving the 3x3 Rubik’s Cube in class. Students will have the opportunity to complete extra credit work on these two topics.
Daily attendance is required in both lecture and lab.
If you miss lecture, you can keep up with class by reading the corresponding section in the textbook.
If you miss lab, you can either make up missed time in the Math Academic Success Center or take a 0 on the lab assignment for that day. To document your time, be sure to scan in and out using your student ID.
Note that the last day to drop is Thursday, April 20. Submit this form to me by 12PM (noon) in order to process your drop in time. Students who stop attending class and do not officially drop will receive a grade of F if their average falls below a 60.
Tentative Schedule: This schedule is subject to change by the instructor at any time.
Blackboard: Students will be required to login to Blackboard via the AC Connect portal on a regular basis to check e-mail, course announcements, grades, and access course materials.
