Two members of the President’s Cabinet at Amarillo College, while their responsibilities and salaries will remain the same, have been elevated to the vice-presidential level.
Lee Colaw, formerly chief of information technology, is now the vice president of information technology. And Ellen Robertson Green, longtime chief of communication and marketing, has been named vice president of communication and marketing.
AC President Russell Lowery-Hart said the re-designations were made to achieve equity within his cabinet, which already contained three vice presidents. Henceforth there will be five.
“I spent my first six months as president observing how the College functions, evaluating team members, and getting to know our employees,” Lowery-Hart said. “In that process, I realized that the cabinet team had different levels of titles even though we all share equal responsibility for leading the College.
“Lee Colaw has dramatically improved the role technology plays in our College and student experience,” Lowery-Hart said. “Ellen Green has vividly enhanced our marketing presence in the shifting sands of online communication and integrated Panhandle PBS with the College mission in impressive fashion.
“Both these individuals earned these titles and are leadership-team members on equal footing with their Cabinet peers,” he said. “This title realignment ensures that my leadership team and I are positioned to equally and fully advocate for the College, internally and externally.”
Members of Lowery-Hart’s Cabinet, in addition to Colaw and Robertson-Green, are Robert Austin, vice president of student affairs; Terry Berg, vice president of business affairs; Dr. Deborah Vess, vice president of academic affairs; and Cara Crowley, chief of staff.
