The Veterans Service Department of Amarillo College is dedicated to serving veterans, active military, reservists and qualified family members in meeting your educational goals. You are encouraged to use the services offered, and hope you understand both your opportunities and responsibilities as a student.

Veterans - If you are a Veteran or eligible family member, you may qualify for benefits under multiple programs in advancing your education. You should consider your educational goals and which will best suit your needs when deciding on the one to use. If you are a Veteran or Eligible Family Member using VA Education benefits, please proceed below to Step 1.

Current Service Members - If you are currently serving in an active, guard, or reserve component, you may be eligible for state or federal benefits.

Getting Started

Step 1  - Apply to AC | Meet with Your Advisor | Register

  • Apply for Admission to Amarillo College
  • Meet with Your Advisor - Browse Advisors by Program if you aren't sure who you should see.
  • All college and military transcripts must be sent to the Amarillo College Registrar's Office - The VA requires that all official transcripts from institutions attended and military transcripts to be on file.
  • *All courses must be required for your program.
  • Developmental courses must be taken in a classroom. Online developmental courses are not reportable.

Step 2 - Apply for Military/VA Benefits

This website gives details about each chapter benefit so you can make an informed decision that is beneficial for your situation. It is recommended that you understand all the details for each chapter BEFORE submitting this application.

*** TOE = FOR Post 9/11 only transfer to dependents - must have 6 yrs AD and commit to 4 more yrs at the time of transfer.

  • Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - You may also apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and it is part of the regular enrollment process.

Step 3 - Do This Every Semester

  • Every Semester - Once you have Registered for your classes, you must complete the:
    ENROLLMENT REQUEST FORM
    • This must be completed every semester if you want to utilize your education benefits.

Veteran Student - List of Required Documents

Benefits will not be submitted if all documents are not on file with the Veteran Services office by the 2nd semester.

  • DD 214 MEMBER 4 - If you don't have one, click on DD 214 to request from the National Archives.
  • NOBE - If currently on active reserve or guard status.
  • All College & Military transcripts:
  • Certificate of eligibility - VA will mail this to you, or you can login to th VA Website and print the information.
  • Complete Standard of Progress Form - You will only have to complete this form once.

Dependent Student - List of Required Documents

Benefits will not be submitted if all documents are not on file with the Veteran Services office by the 2nd semester.
