Dual Credit Instructor of Record Guidelines
High School Teacher as Instructor of Record
Amarillo College

 
Attend the Annual Dual Credit meeting held in mid-August. Meet with Division/Department Chair in your area of study. At the meeting, clarify any questions concerning Amarillo College curriculum.

Department Responsibilities
  1. Use the Amarillo College syllabus for your course. You may use supplemental materials and add units to the course. But, the goals outlined in the AC syllabus must be met.
  2.  Provide the AC Department with any materials requested; i.e. copies of tests, syllabi, attendance records, grade information.
  3. If the Department requires you to do so, use the Amarillo College textbook and participate in the Amarillo College Instructional Assessment process.
 
Grading
 
It is the responsibility of the Instructor of Record to assign grades to all college level work to be used in determining the college grade.
 
  1. The Amarillo College grading scale is as follows:
    A = 90-100
    B = 89-80
    C = 79-70
    E = 69-60
    F = 59-0
     
  2. At the end of the semester, enter grades online using Blackboard.
  3. Inform the students of policies concerning cheating, plagiarism, etc.
  4. Students with Disabilities need to be reminded that college accommodations are not necessarily the same as high school accommodations. Students with disabilities need to register with disAbility Services. The number is 806-371-5639.

Online Presence

      1. All Amarillo College classes are required to have an online presence. 
      2. Blackboard training is available in the
CTL, 371-5993
      3. The minimum that must be online is the course syllabus and the grade book.

Syllabus
     1. The course syllabus and the instructor vitae must be online. Chick with your                    department.

     2. The instructor of record should hand out the Amarillo College Syllabus to all                     students.
     3. If grading for the college and high school course will be different this needs to be            explained very clearly to students.

Addition duties
  1. Verify class rosters on the twelfth day of class. This is to be done online, using AC Connect.
  2. If a student is not attending your class, notify the Director of Academic Outreach by email (bkburton@actx.edu) or by phone (371-5122).
  3. Keep in communication with your Amarillo College Supervisor.
  4. Administer the course evaluation to students. All evaluations will be administered online.
  5. If a student is taken out of your class at the high school, remind the student that the class must be dropped at Amarillo College.
  6. Familiarize your students with the Amarillo College Website; i.e. accessing college grades, registering, etc.
