Daniel E. Henke, Construction Account Executive for Wanzek Industrial, is a longtime resident of Amarillo, and his family has long history of support and attendance at Amarillo College. Henke was appointed to the AC Board of Regents in 2014 to fill the seat vacated by John Hicks, and he was subsequently elected to a full six-year term in May 2015.
After graduating from Amarillo High in 1983, Henke attended Amarillo College from 1983 -1985 and completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Texas Tech University in 1987 graduating Magna cum Laude. Henke returned to Amarillo to start work at Utility Engineering, which was a subsidiary of Southwestern Public Service Company. While working as an engineer, Henke obtained a master’s degree in business administration in 1999 at West Texas A&M.
Utility Engineering was acquired by Zachry Industrial in 2005, and Henke moved up through the organization until departing in 2017 as senior vice president and general manager for the Power Business Unit. Henke subsequently joined Casey Industrial as a vice president in 2017 and later transitioned over to a sister-company, Wanzek Industrial, in May 2020.
Henke was named Young Engineer of the Year in 1996 and Engineer of the Year in 2008 by the Panhandle Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Henke is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) and a project management professional (PMP).
In addition to his duties on the Board of Regents, Henke also served on the Texas Tech University Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board from 2000 - 2012, the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Board from 2002 - 2004, and the City of Amarillo Construction Advisory and Appeals Board from 2012 – present.
He is married to Dr. Lori Henke, Director of Pharmacy at NWTHS and current chair of the Amarillo Area Foundation Board, and they have two adult sons.
His present term will expire in 2021.
