The mission of Career and Employment Services is to educate and empower a diverse student body to achieve personal growth and develop lifelong career success in support of our employers and alumni while proactively supporting our division and college.
To achieve our mission, our goal is to provide comprehensive services to meet the needs of our students, alumni, and community members when they are in the career development process.
To meet this goal, we offer career assessments, career guidance, career-related workshops and seminars, up-to-date career information, and career-related resources. We also provide the means to pursue student employment, internship, and full-time employment opportunities through our online job board, on-campus interviews, job fairs, and networking with our employers, with whom we also serve and develop collaborative partnerships.
Starting as a badger at Amarillo College, Chris transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Chris went on to obtain a master’s degree in data science from Texas Tech University, and a doctorate in educational leadership doctoral from West Texas A&M University. His love for Amarillo College led Chris to his current position. Whether through building relationships with students in career services or student life at Amarillo College, Chris has a passion for inclusivity and accessibility in education.
First Job: Barista at Hastings Café
Abi grew up in Mexico, and moved all of his life, but he somehow found little old Amarillo as the perfect place to call home. Abi received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at West Texas A&M, and after some time in the social work field, he landed in higher education here at Amarillo College. Now it is his pride and joy to guide students through every part of their career path.
First Job: Cook at The Burger
Sterling was raised in and graduated from Dumas, TX. After a not-so-successful attempt at Pharmacy school at SWOSU, he finished his undergraduate studies at WT and found a love of education and service. He has worked as a Special Needs Teacher, a Career Counselor for the Department of Labor through the Job Corps program, and most recently, as the Student Life Coordinator/Academic Advisor at the AC Moore County Campus.
First Job: Kid’s Gym Attendant at the YMCA
Joselynn is thrilled to be attending her first year at Amarillo College pursuing her degree in sonography. She is also excited about her student worker position here at Amarillo College and loves her work. This job is teaching her business etiquette and important life skills that will be very beneficial in the future.
First job: Cashier at Braum’s
Jatyn is in his first year at Amarillo College as a Nursing Major. Jatyn plans on transferring to Texas Tech to further his education after his time at AC. This is his first time working for Amarillo College and so far, this is his favorite job ever! Jatyn is learning new ways to help and work with people while learning other valuable skills!
First Job: Pizza Maker at Papa Murphy’s
