HESI Admission Assessment Exam (A2) FAQs

Below you will find answers to many of your questions about the HESI Admission Assessment Exam (A2).

HESI stands for Health Education Systems, Inc., and A2 stands for Admission Assessment.

You can take the exam anytime before the April 25, 2025, deadline.

  • Reading Comprehension: Measures ability to identify main ideas, comprehend passages, and make logical inferences.
  • Basic Math Skills: Covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, and household measures.
  • Anatomy and Physiology: Focuses on terminology, anatomical structures, and systems.
  • Critical Thinking: Assesses problem-solving, ethical dilemmas, biases, and data analysis.

Plan for approximately 4 hours, including a 30-minute registration process. Short breaks are permitted between sections if needed.

You must attend a mandatory information session to receive instructions and a payment ID code. Use the code to register and pay for the exam.

The exam fee this year for HESI is $83.00.

You may take the exam once during the 12 months before May 31, 2025.

Yes, HESI A2 scores are valid for one year.

Candidates are assigned points based on their total score. (See point section)

You will receive an email with detailed results within 48 hours of taking the exam.

No, Amarillo College will automatically upload your results within 2-3 days of your exam date.

  • Log in 15 minutes early.
  • Use a clean, quiet workspace and close the door.
  • Have a watch or clock visible to track time.
  • Be ready to show your room and workspace with your camera.
  • Have your ID and Evolve account credentials (username and password) ready.
