Welcome to the Amarillo College Nursing Division
The Nursing Division offers two programs, the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program and Vocational Nursing (VN)) Program, which lead to rewarding careers in nursing. The ADN Program offers two options to prepare students for registered nurse (RN) licensure. Each of these options has different admission requirements and a specific degree plan. The VN Program is a one-year certificate program, which prepares students for licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
Students in both nursing programs take classes in contemporary, mediated classrooms in the recently renovated B Building or newly-constructed Jones Hall. The Nursing Resource Center (NRC) located in Jones Hall is a state-of-the art facility, which provides an environment for students to learn nursing skills in hospital-like settings. The clinical simulation laboratory within the NRC provides nursing students unique opportunities to practice patient-centered nursing care using simulated scenarios. Nursing students at AC obtain clinical experiences at various local hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, long-term care facilities, and schools throughout the community.
The Nursing Advisor for our ADN & LVN Programs is Susan Holstun McClure, M.A.
