ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN
BROOKS INSTITUTE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
AND AMARILLO COLLEGE

The purpose of the agreement is to facilitate the transfer of students graduating from AMARILO COLLEGE into the fifth trimester of the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program in photography at Brooks Institute of Photography (BIP). The conditions and stipulations of the agreement are listed below.

Students must graduate from the AMARILLO COLLEGE photography program with an associate’s degree in photography.

The student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Students must present an acceptable portfolio.

AMARILLO COLLEGE students must have proven competency and knowledge of the 4 x 5 view camera. This competency will be judged via testing and a portfolio review of their 4 x 5 camera images.

Since most students will be lacking some of the general education and business curriculum requirements, interested applicants are encouraged to take appropriate courses at AMARILLO COLLEGE or another accredited educational institution before arriving.

Articulation students transferring into Brooks Institute will start in the “Business Block.” The “Business Block” classes are the Psychology of Mass Communications (380), Basic Business (282), and Marketing (284). The “Business Block” classes must be taken in residence at Brooks Institute of Photography.

Although we will transfer credits from the science class taken to fulfill the associate’s degree, it is strongly recommended that the choice of this science class include one that teaches the physics of light and optics.

AMARILLO COLLEGE students that have taken course work applicable to Upper Division courses at BIP will have a Brooks Institute of Photography faculty member determine the applicability of those courses to our major requirements. However, it is expected that all incoming students from AMARILLO COLLEGE will spend a minimum of 5 trimesters (ten terms) in residence at BIP as full-time enrolled students. The courses taken in residence must include one term of the “Business Block,” and nine terms of photography classes (51 photography credits) which meet the major requirements, and other general education and business classes to meet graduation requirements.

Note: Students wishing to graduate as a Digital Media major, a course of study that encompasses still photography, film and video, and digital imaging, must plan to extend their stay two terms of more to meet graduation requirements.
