The pathway to a degree in physical therapy starts at Amarillo College. The Pre-Physical Therapy curriculum provides basic courses for the first two years of a curriculum leading to a bachelors degree in biology or another related program, followed by graduate/post-graduate degrees. Students participate in both classroom instruction and clinical experiences. AC then supports its students throughout the transfer process.
Physical therapists help patients and clients who have movement difficulties due to injury or disease. They often oversee physical therapy assistants in team efforts designed to improve mobility, relieve pain, prevent or limit permanent physical disability and promote overall fitness and wellness. They work in a variety of healthcare and home-health settings.
