Faculty Mead Award
Employee of the Year
Professor Emeritus
In addition to the annual faculty and staff awards, the Faculty Senate Vice President chairs a committee that makes recommendations to the Faculty Senate for retired faculty to be named Professor Emeritus. The individual(s) awarded Professor Emeritus must meet the eligibility criteria, have been approved by the Board of Regents and have accomplished a successful and high level of professional recognition during their tenure at Amarillo College.
The Mead award was created in 1988 and named after the second Amarillo College president, John F. Mead, whose unique contributions to AC included leading the College during the challenging 1930s and returning as a full-time member of the faculty in the 1960s.
In 2018, the Classified Employee and Administrator Employees of the Year Awards were combined.
