College credit may be granted for successful completion of selected examinations from the testing programs described below. Students are responsible for having test results sent to the Amarillo College Registrars Office and for filing an AC Petition for Credit Earned by Examination. Registration materials for testing are available at the Testing Center and in most secondary schools.

ACT examinations consist of four sub-tests in math, English, science, social studies and an optional writing test. Amarillo College awards credit for English and Math based on ACT scores. For more information, please refer to the AC Petition for Credit Earned by Examination.

Program examinations are offered in participating secondary schools in May of each year. Information may be obtained by calling the local public school administration, or by visiting the Educational Testing Service online at www.ets.org. Amarillo College grants semester-hour credit for certain CLEP examinations which measure achievement in specific courses. Many CLEP exams are administered by the Amarillo College Testing Center, located in the Student Service Center (room 101) on the Washington Street Campus. Please contact Testing Services for more information. Please refer to the AC Petition for Credit Earned by Examination to identify CLEP examinations for which AC credit is awarded.
Amarillo College recognizes the value of the International Baccalaureate program and grants credit to students who receive a set score on selected IB exams. Where applicable, credit will count toward general education and major requirements. Please refer to the AC Petition for Credit Earned by Examination for more information.
This program consists of the SAT I-Reasoning Test with writing and the SAT II-Subject Tests. Students may qualify for English and Mathematics credit at Amarillo College according to scores on these exams. For more information, please refer to the AC Petition for Credit Earned by Examination.
