Richard "Buddy" Todd, J.D., B.S., LP
Assistant Professor
BuddyTodd is an Assistant Professor in the Emergency Medical Services Professions program. He is a Licensed Paramedic and has been an EMS provider since 1982. He began his career in Emergency Medical Services as an Emergency Medical Technician with Amarillo Medical Services ("AMS"). In 1984, he graduated from the Texas Tech Health Science Center Paramedic Program and continued working at AMS as a Paramedic and Field Training Officer. In 1986, AMS promoted Buddy to Field Operations Supervisor. In 1988, while working full-time at AMS, Buddy graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a B.S. in Medical Services Administration. In 1989, Buddy left full-time EMS and attended Oklahoma City University School and was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, in 1991. Subsequently, he practiced trial law for 14 years. After closing his law practice, Buddy was the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the City of Amarillo. After leaving full-time EMS, Buddy continued to lecture on EMS topics and served as the Chairman of the EMSP Advisory Committee for Amarillo College. From 1988-89 and 2016-17, Buddy was a part-time faculty member in the AC EMSP Program, becoming full-time faculty in the fall of 2017. In addition to being a Licensed Paramedic, Buddy holds numerous other credentials and certifications from agencies including the American Heart Association, Texas Department of State Health Services and the National Association of EMTs.
