Building the Future...

Mission and Accreditation

The Mission of the Amarillo College Music Department is "to be a center of musical learning and cultural enrichment within the community of Amarillo and the surrounding Panhandle of Texas, by providing a comprehensive two-year musical curriculum for transfer students, elective courses for the non-music major, musical training for younger students, and performance opportunities in various ensembles for students and members of the community."

One of only a handful of 2-year institutions in the nation to be so, Amarillo College is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. We currently offer an Associate of Science degree in Music which is designed to transfer to any four-year public institution in the state of Texas.

Vision

  1. Train EXCELLENT performers (soloists and ensembles) with transferable and marketable skills.
  2. Provide experience with wide-repertoire of genres, cultures, styles.
  3. Enroll a robust mix of music majors, non-music majors, community and pre-college members to consistently meet first two points.
