Schedule Your Faculty Meeting

All prospective music students at Amarillo College must schedule a time to meet with Music Department faculty before enrolling. 

Any instrument & vocal auditions are welcome.

Priority consideration

Priority consideration for a music scholarship will be given to students who schedule an audition on or before the dates listed below. This applies to both music majors and non-music majors participating in ensembles and lessons.

  • March 28, 2025 - 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • March 29, 2025 - 9:00 am to Noon
  • Individual appointments are also available*

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for majors and non-music majors. 

*Please complete the AC Foundation General Scholarship Application before your audition.

Students should be prepared with two contrasting pieces for the audition. The strongest auditionees will have demonstrable experience with the following, which is standard for their primary instrument:

  • scales
  • etudes/studies
  • repertoire

Contact the appropriate AC applied private lesson teacher for specific recommendations.

A short theory and aural skills placement diagnostic will be included. 

Fundamentals of Music

Incoming freshman

Incoming freshman who do not pre-test out of the course during the music audition process, transfers with no music theory coursework, and returning students who did not successfully complete Music Theory I will be enrolled in Summer II MUSI-1303 Fundamentals of Music.
