Application Process

Criteria for Acceptance:

1. The applicant must be eighteen years of age before September 1 of the Fall Semester of the first year of the program. Both men and women are eligible to apply to the Radiography Program regardless of marital status or age. Amarillo College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnic, national origin or disability status.

2. The applicant must have earned a high school diploma or a GED certificate.

3. The applicant must have successfully completed any required "remediation" coursework in mathematics, reading, and/or writing as measured by the TSI placement test. Contact the Amarillo College Testing Center office (806-371-5445) to obtain specific information concerning placement test (e.g. types of tests, dates, cost, etc.) and possible exemptions.

4. The applicant must be able to fully participate in ALL clinical activities routinely required of a radiographer in such a way as to not pose a risk to the safety of a patient, self or medical personnel. A medical release, signed by a medical doctor, may be required to document that this criterion is met. Specifically, the applicant must be able to ..

  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds, without assistance, to countertop level.
  • Speak and hear the English language.
  • See with a visual acuity not less than that required for a drivers license.
  • Provide proof of all immunizations required by Texas law.

Admission  into the program after applications are recieved will be based on a point system.  This system is currently under revision and will be posted to this website as soon as that information becomes available.
