How We Can Help

There are many ways the Counseling Center can help support you in your behavioral health, wellness, and academic goals. We welcome you to make an appointment with our licensed professionals to see how best we can help. If a student presents with a concern beyond the scope of the Counseling Centers' care, we will be able to provide referral services to help with your needs. Our clinicians assist students with navigating a variety of challenges, including but not limited to the following:

  • Anxiety, depression, and/or stress
  • Developing coping, life, and academic skills
  • Adjusting to life challenges and transitions
  • Identity exploration
  • Eating concerns
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Relationship issues
  • Processing trauma
  • Resources for physical and behavioral health needs
  • Resources for social, environmental, and economic needs

The purpose of Amarillo College's Counseling Center is to coordinate behavioral health and wellness services that facilitate Amarillo College's Core Purpose of helping each student to success.


Mission

In service to Amarillo College's Mission, the Counseling Center strives to transform our community and economy by assisting students with behavioral health and wellness services that promote learning, innovation, and achievement. We commit to providing quality and equitable services which aid in identifying, effectively coping, and preventing the behavioral, social, psychological and environmental challenges of Amarillo College students. Additionally, we actively engage in the development of community relationships and professional development that promotes the wellbeing of the Amarillo community.


Vision

The vision of Amarillo College's Counseling Center is to develop a multidisciplinary, equitable, and individualized approach using evidenced-based practices for the ethical assessment, treatment, and prevention of behavioral health and wellness concerns that provides a positive impact for all Amarillo College students.
