Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding (HEERF) Round III

An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the US Department of Education the certification and agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP(a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Amarillo College acknowledges that it signed and returned the federal Certification and Agreement to receive Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) funding and agreed to use no less than the amount of emergency funds received under Section 314(a)(1) to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

The total amount of funds that the institution will receive, or has received under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide emergency grants to students.

Amarillo College received $10,792,144 million from the US Department of Education for emergency financial aid grants to be distributed to students.

The total amount of emergency financial aid grants distributed to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs as of the date of submission.

As of July 6, 2022 Amarillo College has distributed $10,792,144 in CARES Act funding to 2,362 eligible students.

The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.

All students were given an opportunity to demonstrate need (eligibility) by completing an online assessment that was uniquely designed to give students a vehicle for describing how they and their families had been impacted by COVID.  As of 9/1/21, Amarillo College had 7,033 students who received information regarding the availability of the online assessment.

The total number of students who have received an emergency financial aid grant.

The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.

Students who wished to request emergency funding submitted an online assessment to determine the impact of COVID on their household.  Once it was determined that the student was impacted by COVID, the student answered questions to determine their need for funding.  Students who were approved were awarded $3000 for the Fall 2021 semester.

Any Instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency financial aid grants.

Students received an email notification approximately one week after the start of the Fall 2021 semester to complete a self-assessment which would determine the impact of COVID to the student's household.  Assessments were then reviewed by the Advocacy and Resource Center, approved, and routed to the Financial Aid Office to be awarded.
